On these days, students received a new raft version of the Reading Log. This version has three separate days on it; they don't submit the logs immediately.
We did DLR Week 1, Wednesday. Students then had time to finish their descriptions of The Lost Thing in "The Lost Thing." SUBMITTED: "The Lost Thing" description

Today we did our Silent Reading logs (Day 1.2) and then did our Daily Language Review.
After that we brainstormed a bit about how to describe The Lost Thing in "The Lost Thing." We continued making our webs. I then distributed the assignment for next class, where students will write a paragraph to describe The Lost Thing. I will use this mainly for assessment, to see where each student's starting point is. HANDOUTS: Lost Thing Descriptive Paragraph Today we did our first silent reading day with a draft reading log that Mr. Nordstrom is still working on. We then did Day 1 of our Daily Language Review. Finally, we watched the entirety of "The Lost Thing," which we will be using to start our "Writing to Describe" unit.
SUBMITTED: DLR 1, Reading Log 1. STILL WORKING ON: Descriptive web for "The Lost Thing" For our first day of Writing 7, we read through the course outline and started filling in a "Student Survey" sheet that we will use for data in order to describe ourselves next week.
Handouts: Student survey (submitted at the end of class.) |
